FBI to Assist in Investigating Cause of Beirut Explosion; Congresswoman Tlaib Urges Trump to Allow Lebanese to Remain in U.S. Temporarily: Lebanon President Denied Hezbollah Role in Blast

The FBI will join Lebanese and international investigators probing the cause of the explosion that devastated Beirut on August 4, 2020. The cause is still not known, other than almost 3,000 tons of ammonium nitrate stored in a warehouse was involved. The U.S. has offered $18,000,000 in aid to Lebanon. Reported by Fox News. Read more… Meanwhile, House Democrats, lead by Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., are asking U.S. President Donald Trump to allow Lebanese nationals temporarily in the U.S. to stay. In a letter to Trump they say, “As news reports of the impact of the Beirut explosion continue to unfold, it is clear that Lebanon is not in a position to safely accept the return of its citizens at this time.” The letter was signed by Tlaib and more than 80 other Democrats. Reported by Fox News. Read more… Lebanon’s President, Michel Aoun, says it is impossible that the explosive material and explosion that resulted from it was caused by Hezbollah arms. In an interview with an Italian news outlet, Aoun said “serious events like these light up spirits and imagination.” He vowed, however, that “even this lead will be investigated.” Aoun is seen as a puppet of the Hezbollah terror group, which is backed by Iran.
