Kuwait’s emir, Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah, had died. He was 91. He will be succeeded by his half-brother and crown prince Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Sabah, who is 83. The emir had a storied history in Kuwait, serving as its foreign minister for four decades and ruling since 2006.
