Liberman Refuses to Join Narrow Coalition

Israel’s post-election drama continues as the country heads to an unprecedented third round of elections. Yisrael Beiteinu leader Avigdor Liberman has stated that he will not join a narrow government led by interim Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Liberman also warned, “we’re heading towards a very difficult election campaign, a very tumultuous one, and no one knows to what extent the level of incitement and vitriol we will reach in the coming election.” Liberman says that because there is no chance for the formation of a unity government between Netanyahu’s Likud party and contender Benny Gantz’s Blue and White party, there is no point in joining a narrow coalition led by one or the other of the parties.
