Syrian Kurds To Try ISIS Prisoners

Syrian Kurds will begin holding trials for Islamic State fighters from more than 50 different countries. The Kurds have become exasperated with the failure to reach agreements about how to handle the prisoners. Britain, for example, has refused repatriation and has even stripped some of their citizenship. Syria’s Kurds have said they will not impose the death penalty, however. The most serious convictions will carry a life in prison sentence. Syria’s Kurds suffered a serious setback when U.S. President Donald Trump allowed Turkey to invade the border region between it and Syria to suppress what Turkey claims are terror groups imbedded in the Kurdish community.
