U.N.: Maintaining Al-Qaida Ties Despite U.S. Peace Plan

A U.N. report says that the Taliban has assured Al-Qaida it will maintain their close ties despite a “peace deal” with the United States. This despite claims by the Trump administration that the peace deal signified a break between the Taliban and the terror group. The reports says, “The senior leadership of Al-Qaida remains present in Afghanistan, as well as hundreds of armed operatives, Al-Qaida in the Indian Subcontinent, and groups of foreign terrorist fighters aligned with the Taliban.” The report also says that between 400 and 600 armed Al-Qaida operatives remain active in the country.
