Zarif Lauds Macron’s Efforts to Save Nuke Deal

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif recently praised efforts by French president Emmanuel Macron to address the crisis over the 2015 nuclear deal. Speaking to AFP, Zarif said, “President Macron made some suggestions last week to President Rouhani and we believe they are moving in the right direction, although we are not definitely there yet.” France and other European nations have been trying to salvage the deal since the United States withdrew and re-imposed sanctions on Tehran.
